RORY LAUNCHES CHRISTMAS STAMP COMPETITION FOR PENRITH AND THE BORDER PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Rory Stewart MP is encouraging primary-school aged children to take part in a Royal Mail competition to create the official Christmas Stamp for 2017, and has written to all primary schools in Penrith and The Border to launch the competition locally.
The theme of the competition is: “What does the Christmas season mean to you?”; two winning designs will be selected by a panel of judges to appear on one of the 1st and one of the 2nd Class 2017 Christmas Stamps. As with all Special Stamps issued by Royal Mail throughout the year, both winning designs will have to be approved by Her Majesty The Queen.
Overall winners will receive £1,000 in vouchers for their family, and £1,000 will be awarded to their school. Area winners and schools will each receive £500, and £100 will be awarded to both area runners up and their schools.

“I’m delighted to launch this competition in Penrith and The Border, which is an amazing opportunity for local children to have their design appear on millions of items of mail sent over the Christmas Period. Only three times in Royal Mail’s history has the Official Christmas Stamp been designed by children – and let’s hope that this year is our year!”
