Lazonby Fire Station

In 2016 I actively campaigned to keep Lazonby Fire Station open, in the face of threatened cuts by Cumbria County Council. This fire station’s vital  role in protecting our community necessitated its retention. Its brave crews save lives, protect property and serve all the residents of Lazonby and surrounding areas.

In order to demonstrate the importance of Lazonby Fire Station, I led a march of hundreds of people through the village. We marched to show our support for both the station and its brave fire fighters, who do such amazing work. We sent a clear message of both our resolve and our commitment to the preservation of vital services. It was fantastic news for communities and services all across Cumbria when the Council dropped its plans to make the closure.
