RORY TO PUSH FOR PARISH COUNCIL CONTACT DETAILS ON WRITETOTHEM.COM

Rory, as MP for Penrith and the Border, and chairman for the All Party Parliamentary Group for Local Democracy is pushing for parish council contact details to be added to the list of representatives on the write to them website.

At present only details for County Councillors and District Councillors are listed on the website alongside MPs, MEPs and Lords. As the most local form of democracy Rory Stewart MP is pushing to get parish council details added to the website.

Rory said: “Parish Councils are the most grass roots level of our political system in the UK. I think it is incredibly important that their contact details are made readily available to communities. The writetothem.com is a brilliant project which has allowed millions of people to get directly in touch with their representatives in a very easy and accessible way. I think it is vital that parish councils are added to the site to enable and encourage people to become more involved in local politics.”
