Smart Energy

Wigton LightsWe have now begun in Wigton a smart grid project which could make it the first fully connected smart energy town in Britain.  At the heart of this project is energy efficiency, and giving consumers the power to monitor usage through intelligent smart meters, shop around for suppliers, and in so doing, address some of the real issues of fuel poverty that the town faces.

This campaign has brought together a number of local volunteers, and private sector companies, including Silver Spring and Electricity North West, to pilot the latest smart-grid technology, allowing residents and businesses to gain real-time information on their energy use.
